Ukraine says it has pulled off a battlefield first: capturing an enemy position using only ground robots and drones, with no infantry involved and no losses on its side.
Ukraine, Zelensky announces the first war action with robots: “The future is on the front line”
“The future is already on the front line and Ukraine is building it.” Volodymyr Zelensky thus announces the first war action carried out entirely by “ground robotic systems”.
“These – he explained, showing the photos on X – are our ground robotic systems. For the first time in the history of this war, an enemy position was captured exclusively by unmanned platforms, with ground systems and drones. The occupiers surrendered and the operation was conducted without infantry and without losses on our part.”
“Ratel, TerMIT, Ardal, Rys, Zmiy, Protector, Volia and our other ground robotic systems – he added – have already completed more than 22,000 missions at the front in just three months. In other words, lives have been saved more than 22,000 times when a robot went into the most dangerous areas instead of a soldier. This is high technology that protects the highest value, human life.”
A power substation was reportedly hit by Ukrainian drones in the Zaporizhzhia Oblast, and explosions were heard overnight in several Crimean cities, according to the Telegram channel Exilenova Plus, stating that a fire broke out at a power substation in Melitopol, Zaporizhzhia Oblast, following a drone attack, leaving some areas of the city without power.
Meanwhile, The Kyiv Independent reports, explosions were heard in Crimea in the cities of Simferopol, Feodosia, and Kerch, as drones struck targets across the peninsula in an attack lasting several hours. Ukraine regularly targets military infrastructure deep within Russian territory and occupied territories in an attempt to reduce Moscow’s ability to continue waging war.
